The Cross Bay Challenge on Sunday proved to an exciting expedition in the unknown. We set off along a road then down the runway of Cark airfield, only to find the airport car (there is only one!) racing along to stop the race, whilst an airplane landed. After about 10 minutes the race restarted, with Mike leading us round some country roads. The sands stretched out from miles ahead of us. The route was marked by tractor marks however I tended to followed the person ahead on the assumption that he/she was still running and not sinking into quick sand! The first water station appeared, and very welcome it was, as the temperature soared from the reflected sun on the sand. We strided through the river Kent, over knee deep, then for about a mile we paddled and splashed across the sea, before looping back to the finish. Each runner has their own stories of the event please ask them.

Thanks for the quick post on the Morecambe race from whoever put it up. I just noticed that you missed one of our runners from the results because he is listed as ‘Chehire’ rather than WRC:
54 Sean Barry M (017/054) 01:50:48
so he comes in between Don and Rod.
Sounds like it was a classic
