Wistaston, Crewe – Sunday 8th January 2006
Some good results from the mens and ladies teams. Most runners seemed to like the course which was 5 laps (4 for ladies) of ‘Joey the Swan’ recreational park at Wistaston. The cours wound and twisted through woods and over playing fields and there were a few short muddy hills and a ‘ravine’ which had a particularly steep slippery descent and ascent but it all added to a good interesting course.
In the ladies team it was good to have Sally Gilliver back with us after a fair bit of time of with injuries. Jane and I fought it out with the Macclesfield girls and managed to improve quite a bit on last years race and Sally M was ahead of Sally G for the first lap and a half and keeps getting better and stronger with every race.
Mike Halman had a superb race being in 3rd place almost all the way round, he put everything into it but unfortunately got passed near the finish by a young lad who’d been with him most of the race. Malcolm was very close behind, followed by Tom, Colin, Bill and Jim to put the team in 3rd place.
At the presentation we picked up quite a few prizes betweeen us with 3rd place for the mens senior team and 2nd for the mens vet team. The ladies were 2nd senior team and 1st vet team. We also seemed to collect a lot of the individual vet prizes with Malcolm 1st V40, Tom 1st V50, Tony 1st V55 and myself 1st LV45.
