As us mere plebs scrape mud from our studded soles in preparation for some or all of the events detailed below, our minds momentarily reflect on how the gentry of our club celebrate Christmas. Those who still ring bells for the butler when they need their slippers , or to bring a gin and tonic while they swim in the indoor pool housed in the purpose built fitness centre within the grounds of their estate. Wonder who I am talking about ? If unsure , please refer to pages 34 and 35 of the December copy of Cheshire Life. Yes those colleagues who once shared changing rooms with us before reaching the higher reaches of society , can be found in various pictures within Cheshire Life. Without a thought for their ex pals , they happily pose for shots having negotiated a suitable fee through their agents. In a club that still endorses the ‘common man ‘ theme , have things changed irretrievably ? Only the New Year will tell.
