The Wilmslow Half was the third race in this year’s Cheshire Grand Prix, and sees Wilmslow leading in both Mens and Ladies categories (at the moment!). Also strong individual performances from our heros/heroines. See the Cheshire County Athletics Association web site (link in ‘useful links’). Coordinator Adrian Thiemicke writes:-
A dominant performance by the host club means that their men increased their
lead at the top of the table.
However, their women had their lead trimmed slightly by Macclesfield.
I have also made a start on the individual results. This shows that the
ultra-consistent Darren Washington (Boalloy) retains his lead, with the
biggest threat possibly being Mike Halman (Wilmslow) who has taken maximum
points in both half marathons so far. Mike’s clubmate Jane Clarke continues
to lead the women’s table, but 3 other runners have twice beaten her this
year, so when dropped scores start coming into play, she could lose her
lead. I will attempt to finish this when I get time.
As ever, any corrections to me please.
Also, the concensus (by a small majority) of those clubs who replied is that
2 half marathons in the GP is sufficient, so we will be sticking at 7 races
this year, with 5 to count.
(I haven’t yet decided how many races should count for the individual title
– should it be 4 or 5 ?).
