Last chance to improve positions and win medals at XC – or make a debut and help our teams surge up the table!

The last match of the MACCL season is on Saturday. The Manchester Area XC League Match 5 is at  Heaton Park on Saturday the 19th February.

10 years ago In the team events we won both the Ladies and the Vets Ladies titles; and the men though third in the Men’s competition, we won the Vet Men’s title too!

This is your last chance to compete or take up the challenge at Cross Country.

Looking at our Wilmslow runners

Individually

Di, Andy and Trevor are uncatchable.

Nicola is ahead by 1 point – but can be caught.

Louisa is 3rd in her category – but could get 2nd or end up 4th !. Sharon currently is equal 4th, it could get interesting!

And for the men I note that Richard 4th in his category at the moment can win it with a win at Heaton park

League Tables:

Ladies:

We are 4th in Snr Ladies/Vets with 25 points – Stockport and Chorlton  on 24 and 23 points on our tail. Potential to slip to 4th or 5th..

Our ‘B’ team  is  currently 14th out of 20; but having only completed 3 races they can climb potentially 7 or 8 places if they can get a team out for the last match.

Better news on the vets division. Our girls lead it with 39 points – 4 ahead of Sale. I think they are unassailable and will be crowned champions after the last match.

And again, in the ‘B’ team category,  our girls are 13th out of 21. With a good turnout for match 5 and the right results they can climb to 2nd. Come on you girls you can do it!

It’s a different tale for the men who are having a difficult season. The bigger clubs have bigger and younger squads our running. However, currently we are joint leaders of Division 2 with Vale Royal. Potentially there is everything to ‘run’ for at Heaton Park and we could end up in any of the top 4 positions! Come on you guys – go for it.

In the Vets category we are in division 1 and after a great start at Wythenshawe we have fallen away and currently we are 6th. Possibly 4th if we have a good result next time.

Our ‘B’ team have only managed one score registered – in Match2
