We are back online! Here is te first of a few delayed posts. Starting with … parkrun:
36 WRC members ran at various parkruns this weekend [14th]. There were some interesting results and appearances – and achievements.
At Bramhall PaulN reinstated himself ahead of PaulG – albeit by the finest of margins. Rob appeared almost 18 months since his last outing and an impressive AG of 86.06% was the highest there that day. You’d have to go back to mid 2017 since he had such an AG. Tuesday training – and hills – helping there no doubt. But, if you thought that was great, there’s Peter. Finishing first at Eastbourne with an AG of 89.67% . Sub 16 and his fastest ever parkrun.
Another one returning to their home course after 3 years was cat who was less than a minute slower than her last visit in 2018. Meanwhile, the Breakfast Boys sought out Burnage for a gentle jog and, no doubt, a Bacon Butty Inspection. Oliver went solo and PB’d for the second week on te trot At Lyme Park. This time the improvement was by 15 seconds. Graham and Colin first timed at Cheadle. IanS was there too. Not a PB but 40+ seconds quicker than last week.
The upset of the day was at Lytham. Not for me though I have been expecting it. Louisa beat dad. First timers there. Louisa was first woman to finish, 9 seconds ahead of Andrew. But he could claim the better AG by 0.35%.
James returned to Ludlow and was 20 seconds off his 2018 time. RichardL chose Sale water and almost equalled his 2019 time. Tim did better he PB’d at Alexandra Park for the second week in succession. This time by 25 seconds!! He headed the AG table there with 89.16%. Wow. He now holds the AG record there. Incidentally, Janine holds the Age Category Record there too. Not forgetting Alan who first timed there and his sub 23 time was his fastest since 2019. It was his highest AG too.
Wilmslow saw a family affair for first and second places. Perhaps it was a younger Alex by a minute as he PB’d by almost half a minute. But, back to our members. Sam, Jim and Richard managed top ten times. Jim had an AG of 80.07% – he was checking his watch at 8:50 as he ran under the Railway bridge by TrustFord! Might have warmed up to top condition by the time he got to the start. Must Mention RichadH who PB’d his 2019 time by over 20 seconds.
Nice to see Leigh running. Her times this year is coming down each week. It’ll soon be her 100th at Wilmslow!¬ Did someone mention cake? 😊 Gareth had his first parkrun this year.
Sir Ian broke the MV75 course category record with his fastest parkrun this year. Also, his highest ever AG too. He is fine form. Though rumour has it that it was only down to the early pacing from Roy that did it.
It was Roy’s 50th at Wilmslow. Lydia was back with a gentler run than last week’s PB. TracyB came to chat help and support Nic before he aged another year.
Well there was a lot of PBs and records this week. We had 4 category records broken at the events we ran in: Peter, Tim, Kate and Ian.
Then we had top AG runners at 5 events Rob, Kate, Jim, Tim and Peter
Busiest event: Lytham [302]; quietest Cheadle [57].
Tourists of the day: Peter at Eastbourne (where 300 ran) and Kate 5th – first timer at the newish event near Ambleside – with an AG of 82.99% it was her highest as well as that at the event.
