See You Tonight

Morning All,

Just a few lines to endorse the comments made by Paul regards to our resumption of training.

As a club, we have always been driven by an ethos of “teamship” and training together. During a series of webinars that I have been doing with Tom Craggs ( Head of Road Running & England lead for elite Marathon runners), he always has all of his athletes training together…club runners and his Olympic marathon hopefuls.

Training together has a number of advantages.

  1. It aids club communication
  2. Its aspirational, and allows people the opportunity to aspire to move up groups…staying in your comfort zones will not improve performance.
  3. I We all do the same sessions, although there may be differences in length…this means and building on point (2), that the same step process of training plan is in place for those that move group.

On a personal level, and we can discuss this at our AGM (Paul will confirm the date), I want us to be respected as a Club that punches above our weight and is recognized as competitive in races…We are competitive, and with some newer members can build on this. In terms of training and Tuesday in particular, we treat this as an opportunity to improve…training our bodies and also our minds.

We want to enter Championship events, and I am in touch with our two captains…Rebecca, and Andrew about this…when are you both free?

Big thanks to all our LIRFs who have helped to make the covid training work and so successfully. We want them to continue via their groups to continue to guide and lead. Until the final easing of lockdown (28th June), we still need to register attendance through them.

The club is in close contact with the Rugby Club, as we are keen to make longer term improvements to our facilities.

Finally, while we will be united as one on Tuesday, please be aware of social distancing…stay in groups, and no spitting please!

Team Wilmslowtogether is stronger!

Nick
