Injury News July

Thank you for all the updates.  Below is a summary of my understanding of our athletes injuries.

Amazingly some helped us  by running  last week to win the last Mob match.  Round 2 starts today!

Updates

Emmy Moss: My Knee is still painful to run on really, but doing some very gentle runs and fixed my bike to try and build up some fitness again. Still need physio and probably an injection, but I’m very low down on the list as far as priority goes, which is fair given it’s not stopping me in my daily life! Will still run in the Mob Match and try to improve my time 🙂

Jarrod Homer: I’m starting running cautiously again. Not too fast and avoiding hills. Still doing loads of hamstring rehab with loading etc. Getting very bored of swimming!

Bill Heaton The months seem to pass so quickly. My pre-lockdown specialist appointment to locate the source of my lower back and pelvis problems seems to be on the back burner until who knows when.

I can run slowly still and so can keep some basic fitness. In my mind a comeback will be on the cards one day…..you’ve been warned!

Julie: My foot is pretty good now, it’s the hip that is taking its time to recover, but I am getting there.

I even managed training the other night!! I was very slow but really enjoyed it, and it was lovely to see Elspeth and the others.

Matt Taylor: I’m making some progress. I’ve felt okay when I run in the last week or two but am taking it cautiously. I’m going to stick to fairly low mileage runs and alternate with cycling for the time being.

The Hoppity Kid: Not a good month. Reverting to walk-jog, walk jog. Amazing last week had two calls from the Alex. One was for a scan on my calf which I had Friday. As I told the young Doctor – I didn’t think it was a problem; she concurred and couldn’t find anything! So that’s something for my consultant when I see at the end of the month! Who knows I might get another scan before he decides on an injection or not. Don’t worry I say: It’ll be all Over by Christmas!!

 Elsewher 🙂

Laura Fairhurst Col: We are both injured still Patrick. I’ve got plantar issues and Col has got suspected Morton’s neuroma and will be having a scan next Wednesday with possible treatment of steroid injection and if that doesn’t work then an op. Mine will just take time. We are both enjoying our cycling and swimming instead at the moment so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Andrew Whittingham Back Training with my fingers crossed, knee still a bit niggly but hoping it clears with physio/massage/loading work

Claire Clancy: I’m recovering from a hip stress fracture. Now pain free when I walk and hoping to be able to start running again in August. Cycling in the meantime! Missing the Tuesday training but loving the Mob Match competition!!

Jan Wyles I have an Inflamed ankle joint, physio says it hasn’t got a name. Ignored it for ages, however it just got worse to the point that even walking was sore! Anyway, I’m cycling and swimming as replacement activities to keep me sane and happy! and have balance and strength exercises to do. Also, on a run / walk gentle build up. Although not as bad as it was it still hurts especially on uneven ground. Just having to be patient. Also loved the mob match, shame not to partake but really impressed with the club pulling together to do it.

Stacey Marie: I’m going to be out for several months whilst they decide whether to operate on my Achilles, but like everyone else keeping fit by cycling

James Speedie: I am Re-habing an Achilles issue that developed during marathon training earlier in the year with some strength training. Keeping fit on the bike meantime. Building up the running reasonably slowly, but hope to be back to training soon.

Anyone else injured that I have missed?.. Update:

Kate McCulloch: I had an ankle impingement starting in July/ August. Finally diagnosed at Christmas. Back running (tentatively) in February. Built miles up slowly. Now the injury has returned (as had been predicted). My consultant is inconveniently on holiday so ruining it further while I wait for him to come back and fix me…

Take care everyone.
