Poetry Week; 2 – Ladies first

Today’s poem comes from Nicky. It arrived just after Paul’s. But it’s definitely been worth waiting for.  Thank you Nicky.

The Corona Runner

Who thought the neighbours
would do such favours,
Their kindness has been priceless

Donations for the health service
who advise us to wipe our surface

Already our houses so much cleaner,
It’s time for lessons in Argentina,
So our Spanish does not vanish,
Our vocabulary to replenish.

From her flat in Buenos Aires
Fati regales us with her stories

Jogging along the Bollin
Fields full of lambs frolickin’

Photos of ducks on my run
Hopefully Eva finds them fun

Round the fields I explore
Can’t wait to do reps once more

A journey cycling better than idling
My intake of vitamin D to heighten
The pedestrians I try not to frighten

Little we knew we would have to queue
For some flour the shops we scour

Dave working in the garden
Or on the phone to Chris Morgan

As the beach I cannot reach
On the computer I myself teach

Don a whizz at the quiz
Rebecca’s class just the biz

Averting gloom we chat on Zoom
We’ll not resume before the flowers bloom
Pray Good we meet up soon
Unfortunately not before June

A girl obviously needs to be prepared when on a long bike ride after a spicy meal the day before 🙂
