Elspeth writes… we now find ourselves gradually edging towards the end of the Summer Series. The last qualifying park run will be Saturday 21st October, the day before the final Summer Series Race, the Wirksworth Undulator. So, if you are still in need of a race to make up your 8 Summer Series races, you still have 8 chances to qualify for a parkrun entry to use as one of these races.
To qualify for a parkrun entry you need to complete Lyme Park parkrun plus another three courses from the following list :- Congleton – Bramhall – Wythenshawe – Burnage – South Manchester – Stretford – Wilmslow.
At the end of August we have a total of 64 members who have now joined the competition with 41 runners completing either one of two courses.
We only have Ian Smallwood who remains on three courses, he has already completed Lyme Park, Wilmslow and Bramhall so needs to head for one of the other courses to qualify.
Jarrod Homer, Sharon Jones, Richard Hirons, Alan Turner, Sharon Johnstone and Andy Whittingham have all run four courses but they have not yet completed the compulsory course at Lyme Park to qualify.
Jan Wyles remains on 5 courses and Catherine Mellor has increased her total to join Trevor Morris on 7 courses. All three need to run at Lyme Park to qualify.
We have three qualifiers this month, hot on Roy’s tail we see both Simon Fenton and Stephen Feber join the elite band, together with Christian Hook.
Ian Ashcroft has now completed all 8 courses and joins Tony, Mark and Patrick at the top end of the points table. John Porteous still has 7 so to complete the full 8, he still needs to head for South Manchester. At the end of August, the parkrun table is as follows:

The parkrun competition has seen less movement this month with many club members becoming ‘tourists’ and visiting new courses around the UK. We have seen Wilmslow represented at Jersey, Salisbury, Harrogate, Swansea and Mile End to name a few.
