Our ethos is simple: The club aims to offer a supportive and friendly environment for all runners keen to improve their performance in road races, cross country and any other events that the club enters at local, regional and national levels.
The emphasis is on healthy competition, and our calendar includes a host of team races. We encourage club members to represent the club in a variety of local and national races – from 4k to half marathons. We run Road, Trail, Fell and Cross Country!
Restrictions in our facilities means that there are some occasions when we have to limit the number of members in each category.
What We Do
On Tuesdays at 18:45 we meet at the club ready for our Rep Sessions. Typically these will consist of a warm up [2-4k], a set of reps of various sessions [5-6k] in ability groups and then a cool down jog.
Thursday we set off from the club at 19:00 for a Tempo run. Usually about 10-15k, again in ability groups. When it gets dark members have to wear Hi-Viz vests for their safety.
Sunday sees us meeting in the morning at 9:00 usually from the Club. This is a more leisurely, social run, which allows members to meet, catch up and learn new running paths in the area. Occasionally the last Sunday in the month is sometimes from the Edge car park – next to the Wizard. We inform members when this occurs.
Once a month we have food after training. A light meal to replenish the carbohydrates and to meet fellow club members. We sometimes have a guest speaker at these occasions. An email is sent to everyone the week before with the meal on offer that evening. If you want to eat email Julie on firstname.lastname@example.org before noon on the Monday before. The cost is a bargain at £4, but if you want, you can pay £5 and carry over £1 so that after 4 weeks you get a “free” meal.
