A 5 mile multi-terrain undulating 1 lap course starting and finishing on the playing fields. And with a Pie afterwards; what more could you want on a fine summers evening!
After a great turnout at Quarry Bank the previous night I wondered how many would make it to Moulton. Would it just be a few Points-Tarts and a couple of newbies? Well I was wrong – 16 out of 17 Club members who registered ran!!
Nicola, Mark and Steve were the only ones to double up on both races. Nic and Mark were the first male and female club members to finish. Nicola second lady home.
Our ladies won the Ladies Team prize: Nic, Kate, Janine and Tracy – well done.
Age Category firsts went to: Nic, Andy, Kate, Janine and Ian.
While Angie was 2nd and Tracy 3rd in their respective categories.

This used to be a much loved race for our club. Especially the afters. Indeed it has been known that the draw of the pie has enticed runners to start; give up at the pub; get changed and eat their pie, still leaving time to cheer their fellow club members home! 🙂
I notice some of the Breakfast Club chose not to miss out. A bit more filling than a bacon bap?

I’m happy to report Patrick that the race remains much loved! The “newer” members all enjoyed it and we had a big contingent staying back for a pint and to cheer the WRC gang at the trophies
I seem to remember the race for the pie queue was more intense than the race itself, not any more. The pie & peas is handed out in a paper bag at the finish, fortunately the peas were still in the tin can.
Breakfast Club heading for Wigan Saturday, now there’s a place famous for pies.
Good to see 16 members competing, however, in its heyday we used to get 40+ running from the club in the Summer Series drawn by the smell of Cheese & Onion pie with baked beans or Meat & Potato pie with peas!
