Injury Update June

Hi Everyone.

As usual we are a very fit club – according to the few Injury updates I have received.  They are mostly long term. Here we go ..

Bill

Thanks for the contact, it’s appreciated.

I was diagnosed with arthritis in the SI Joint in Jan and I’ve been under a physio at PhysioFit in Alderley Edge since then.

I can run up to about 8 miles but it really is slow. The pain has improved slightly and there’s only so much that can be done.

In saying that, I enjoy running still and getting some fresh air. I’ll hopefully pop down to the club one week if only to catch up with everyone.

Having spent many months with an Achilles tendon/ ankle injury which eventually cleared itself up I have now got piriformis syndrome after a fall whilst out running. Despite one physio session and two chiropractor sessions the problem still persists. I am hoping to see a Sports Therapist for some soft tissue massage as the next stage. In conversation with Dr. Kate on Tuesday who had a similar problem I was reassured that it will eventually sort itself out. She also recommended swimming as an alternative to running. The net result at present is that it restricts what running I can do. Ho hum.

Sadly, all things beginning with ‘H’ giving me trouble: Hips (diagnosed as early arthritis); Hernia (been on waiting list since January); and Heart (irregular rhythm under investigation). Other than that, fit as a fiddle! I’m doing controlled training sessions so I’m keeping a base level of fitness. I’m missing running club and all of you but will be at a couple of upcoming races as a marshal.

Rehab is going relatively well, I’ve been playing some netball but it’s not always comfortable.

My main news is that this week I’ve moved away from Wilmslow back to Leicestershire. So I was wondering who to officially email to let them know.

The bonus of Leicestershire is that it’s lovely and flat, so will move away from running I think and focus on cycling instead!

Lydia

Recovering from a niggle. Expected to resume Tuesdays soon.

Hipperty Hopperty

My arthritis in the Right Hip will be there until I have a hip replacement. 🙁

Trying injections every 6 months until there is no benefit. Just 3 months into my last one. Felt brilliant for the first 2-2.5 month.  extended my running [jogging] with hobble from 5k to 11k. Included some fartleks too and [just] managed a 5k under 30 mins 😊

Since then, I have had two lots of physio recently. After the first one the physio was so impressed with my legs [couldn’t make me cringe 😊] afterwards I ached so bad for several days. This latest physio everything hurt!!! So Physio not impressed!!

These last 2 weeks the legs have been stiff, and the knee and the adductor sore; and the limp is coming back!! Not sure if that’s the injection wearing off or having stepped up too quickly with distance and pace.

Will have to monitor it the next 3 weeks. Had hoped to try the parkrun at the end of June. Not sure now.

Rumour someone may have had fallen off a bike and is recovering; cycling at the moment. Not yet running.

Noticed Jan and PeterB doing hill training Tuesday so presume they are recovered from their niggle/ injury.

Apologies if I have missed someone
