Report by John:
Four members of WRC braved storm Jorge to run the Cloud 9 on Sunday. For those who don’t know it, the race is 9 miles around Congleton with a total climb of 1,250 feet which includes the slight inconvenience of an ascent of Bosley cloud. The initial bad news was that we were told that we had to carry our fell racing kit, although they did not do any random inspections on Sunday.
I shared excuses for a slow race with Jim, Janine and Huma at the start and then we were off, although I didn’t see them again until I was enjoying my free soup and bread after the race. If Ian Ashcroft is reading this, the temperature at the start was 7 degrees, with a fresh wind and clear skies. The hardest part of the race from my view was not getting up the cloud but wading through the ankle deep mud when we were crossing the farmers’ fields, which may explain the slightly slower times compared to previous years.
A Sunday morning rumble around the hills with free soup and plenty of cake afterwards – what’s not to like?
John
Well done everyone. The last time I did this I was frozen by the finish,

Lovely write up John with the nod to Ian. You must all be mad, but nevertheless well run! Roy
