Training Update from Nick & XC

An update from Nick regarding Tuesday training and the upcoming Cross Country season

I will miss the next three Tuesdays for a variety of reasons: In London, out of the country etc.!
Paul Norris is aware and we have training covered.

Tuesday 9th October is the week of the first MACCL XC Series at Wythenshawe Park: Saturday 13th.
See www.maccl.co.uk for more details.

Cross country is great fun, fabulous winter training and full of “Teamship”. If you need to understand more please ask our captains: Andrew and Janine.

We do have to enter you in advance. We have had some excellent results in previous years and want to put strong teams out again! Challenging for both Team & individual honours. Whatever your ability, everybody counts. It will be great to have numbers out in force and some of our newer members!

We will weather permitting, in part use some of that Tuesday night (9th) to prepare for the weekend.

I would recommend for those not used to cross country that you do try to some runs off road and on a softer surface.

Races start fast before you throttle back into your race pace…Be prepared…And ideally finish fast…Consider some fartlek training!

You may also want to consider getting some studded off road running shoes or XC spikes. If doing so, wear them a few times for a mile or two each time…They do feel different.

The four weeks following (Tuesday 16th October/Tuesday 23rd/Tuesday 30th/Tuesday 6th), will be a four week block of training, each week building on the previous one for a reason.

We may also be in AE for the first one (16th).

I will confirm and explain nearer the time.

I will be at Macclesfield on Sunday for the HM. See you then!

Regards,

Nick
