Summer Series: Parkrun report – August

PARKRUN RACE SERIES COMPETITION – END OF AUGUST REPORT

We now find ourselves in the last quarter of the parkrun competition.  For those calculating whether they have time left to qualify we now have another nine parkruns left, as the final date to be counted will be Saturday 27th October.  So, it is still possible to qualify for both parkrun competitions and get two entries on the summer series tables.

The end of August sees another three qualifiers on the tables.  Congratulations go to Catherine Machin who has completed the ‘Popular’ courses at Lyme Park, Wilmslow, Bramhall and Congleton to qualify, and to James Macdonald and Mark Crossland who have completed the ‘Enthusiast’ courses at Wythenshawe, Sale Water, Stretford and Burnage. Catriona Marshall –  Bramhall

Mark Crossland, Kate Sutton, Alan Turner, Nicola Coppock and Carolyn Hirons – Lyme Park

Enthusiast Courses:

Sharon Johnstone, Jarrod Homer, Gareth Trimble, Rob Jackson and Patrick Grannan – Stretford

Andy Whittingham and Ian Smallwood – Burnage

Another month without any parkrun milestones, though we do have a winner of the most exotic parkrun which this month goes to Mike Hill who ran at Crissy Field parkrun in San Francisco. He is not the first WRC member to run this course though ….. any guesses?  Answer – Pete Stock who ran the course in 2015.

Notable runs include Daniel Bundred who took first runner at both Wilmslow and Eglington parkruns earlier in August and then ran his first sub-18 min parkrun with a great pb of 17.53 last Saturday.  Following his London Marathon training earlier this year Colin Walton continues to consolidate and advance, running a PB at Wilmslow on 25th August with a sub-23 min time of 22.59.  It was good to see Mark Crossland back to regular parkrunning in August following his recent period of injury and Kate Sutton continues to improve with her August parkruns back in the 23 minute range, good training ready for her upcoming Ethiopian Challenge!

Happy September parkrunning.

  1. Thanks for the detailed report Elspeth. I prefer the 2 sets of courses than 1 set of 8/9 with bonus points and would like to keep this format but perhaps rotating the parkruns.

Please can my Enthusiast combined times be updated to 1:16:23
    Burnage 19:30;Sale Water 19:00; Stretford 18:42; Wythy 19:11

    cheers
