We have no official parkrun milestones this month but our new chair Paul Norris must be congratulated for reaching his 400th parkrun this month.  Our outgoing chair Chris Cannon should be also mentioned and thanked for his support of the parkrun competition, he completed all 9 courses in the first 2016 competition, all 8 courses in 2017 and has this month now completed all 8 courses this year.  Well done to both Paul and Chris!

I was hoping that the start of the summer holidays would see the prize for most exotic parkrun awarded to a far-flung traveller, however we are still firmly in the UK with Ian Smallwood taking the prize for his trip to Seaton parkrun in Devon.  Apologies must also go to Ian as he qualified for summer series points for the Popular Courses earlier in the year, I had apportioned his points to Wilmslow instead of Bramhall, I realised my mistake this month, so his points will be added to the table. Apologies Ian!

Notable runs must include our most renowned park-runner Rob Downs, who had a tourist run at Leamington parkrun coming in 1st place with his daughter Ellen hot on his heels 12 seconds later to take 2nd place and 1st lady.  Tim Billington has had a good month knocking a couple of minutes off his overall total for three of the popular courses on the table. The best overall improvement on any of our parkrun competition times this month goes to Ian Ashcroft who knocked 5m 30s off his previous Wythenshawe score.  Ian modestly puts this down to initially having a poor run in January though his new time does represent one of his fastest at parkrun this year – Well done Ian!  Also, it was great to see our new club member Claire Clancy run her park run debut at Wilmslow with a time of 19.57 taking 1st Lady.

With many members off on their summer hols we may see a dip next month in qualifiers but hopefully we will may see some good contenders for most exotic parkrun

Happy August parkrunning.
