Birchwood 10k, Sunday August 20th.

Simon Fenton writes:-

Ideal running conditions with little wind and relatively cool on a flat course – other than the two motorway bridges which are a climb towards the end. On the start line Mick was generous enough to chat to the guy who he said would beat him in the V65’s, and duly did. He did however have a real tussle with the two Pauls with eight places and twenty six seconds separating the three of them. It was Paul Norris’s fastest ever on Birchwood thus proving retirement is not impeding his running. Paul Garnett achieved his fastest 10K post operation and he improves with every race. I had my fastest 10K for two years and three years on Birchwood. It was a day of second Vet category prizes with Paul Norris V60, Mick V65 and me V70 and we ended up twelfth team out of thirty three. Sue is improving race on race after major for surgery back in January.

1 Jack Martin Stockport Harriers 31.38
29 Kirsty Longley Liverpool Pembroke 36.47
95 Paul Norris            41.56 2nd V60
100 Paul Garnett       42.06
103 Mick Fairs           42.22 2nd V65
400 Simon Fenton    51.50 2nd V70
511 Sue Strang           54.41

969 ran.
