Nicky writes… of all the races this Sunday Tatton was definitely the nearest, although it took rather longer than anticipated to get into the park as there was only one entrance open and there had been an accident on the motorway. Subsequently the start was delayed which meant that those of us who had arrived on time were desperate to get going rather than jog around in the drizzle and cold.

The course consisted of two loops around the park and the surrounding walls. Consequently we could see the front runners on one of the loops and had the satisfaction of seeing plenty of people who were going in the opposite direction behind us. It was slightly undulating, I was rather hoping we were going to turn back into the park and miss the extra ‘sting in the tail’ second time round but no chance.

As you can see from the results it was only the ‘crème de la crème’ from WRC who took part! All the men were in the top 20 and Nick managed to pip the first lady.

The race was well organised with plenty of marshals and loos. There was plenty of parking space in the fields which luckily didn’t get too muddy. Improvements could be made in the serving of hot drinks, there were only two vans and the machines were painfully slow.

Many thanks to Don for his support on such a miserable day.

Nicky
